Why regular Vulcan gas heater servicing matters
Even the newest Vulcan gas heaters are over 25 years old at this point. With that age comes an increased need for regular maintenance. When you have your Vulcan ducted gas heater system serviced by Climate Plus, you can expect:
- Safe operation: Some very old Vulcan gas ducted heating systems are known to have safety issues surrounding carbon monoxide leaks, overheating, and other problems. The Climate Plus team knows what signs to look for if your Vulcan unit is susceptible to these risks, and our maintenance helps your Vulcan unit operate as designed.
- Energy efficiency: Irregularly or poorly serviced Vulcan gas heating systems are known to operate inefficiently. This can be because of dirt and dust buildup, incorrect gas pressure, old components, or other factors. A Vulcan heater service from Climate Plus can help keep your system energy efficient, which can reduce your gas usage and utility bills.
- Fewer breakdowns: With our expert Vulcan heater servicing, we’ll pinpoint small issues your system might have, preventing the need for costly repairs later. We’ll help keep your home warm right before winter begins.
- More reliable heating: By scheduling routine maintenance for your Vulcan ducted gas heating, you can ensure it heats your home thoroughly and at your desired temperatures. You’ll avoid issues that plague poorly-serviced Vulcan heaters, such as short cycling and delayed heating.
- Extended lifespan: If the lifespan of your Vulcan heating system is a top priority, then a Climate Plus maintenance plan can help. Our friendly team will take care of your heater’s individual components, preventing the wear and tear that can cause damage to your overall system.

Vulcan service FAQs
Do they still make Vulcan gas heaters?
No. Vulcan gas heaters ceased manufacturing in the year 2000, when they were sold to Southcorp, and then bought by Climate Technologies. Though Vulcan heaters are no longer being made, Climate Plus can still service yours.
Are Vulcan hot water and Vulcan ducted gas heaters the same company?
Not exactly. While both carry the Vulcan name, Vulcan ducted gas heaters are owned by Climate Technologies, who have stopped making products under the Vulcan banner. Vulcan hot water systems are still being produced however, and exist as a separate company.
How can I troubleshoot my Vulcan gas heater?
If you notice any strange behaviour from your Vulcan heater, there are a series of checks you can carry out to resolve any issues:
- Make sure your thermostat is set higher than the current room temperature and your system is set to heat mode.
- Clean or replace your Vulcan’s filters if they are dirty or clogged. Dirt and obstructions can impede airflow, causing overheating.
- Make sure the circuit breaker hasn’t tripped, and your isolator switch is on.
- Turn your isolator off, and then on again after 30 seconds.
- If none of these steps resolve your heater’s issues or you notice any strange smells, don’t hesitate to contact Climate Plus. We’ll attend to your system as quickly as we can.
Can I service a Vulcan gas heater myself?
No. Servicing your Vulcan gas heater by yourself is both illegal and potentially dangerous. To give your system the proper care, book a service with Climate Plus.
Is Vulcan a good brand?
Though no longer being manufactured, Vulcan gas heaters have earned a reputation for their simple design, consistent heating, and lifespan. Many Vulcan owners praise them for their dependability, and are still valued by many homeowners.
How long do Vulcan ducted gas heaters last?
In general, a Vulcan gas heater has a lifespan of around 15-20 years. Some models, however, have been known to last for up to 30 years after installation.
How do I tell if I have a Vulcan Heritage space heater?
A Vulcan Heritage space heater is identifiable by the badge on the front of the heater’s lettering. If you do have a Vulcan Heritage heater, it’s especially important to have it serviced as they have been known to produce carbon monoxide leaks under certain conditions.
Does Climate Plus service Vulcan Heritage space heaters?
Yes, we do. Climate Plus technicians are trained to work on Vulcan Heritage space heaters, with all health and safety considerations in mind.
Does Climate Plus service Vulcan hot water heaters?
